President’s Letter
Since its founding in 1954, Wesley Woods has grown into one of the most well known centers on aging in the nation. Combining compassionate, respectful care with the best in enlightened geriatric medicine, Wesley Woods encompasses a wide spectrum of care for older adults. We offer the nation’s only free-standing geriatric hospital, a long-term skilled nursing and hospice facility, an outpatient center, and eight independent living communities for older adults throughout north Georgia
Due to medical advances which have led to longer life spans, our residents and patients often come to Wesley Woods later in life and more medically fragile than at any time in our history. Many older adults who have saved all their lives find themselves in the difficult position of seeing a weakened world economy and high healthcare costs deplete their resources. Additionally, most Wesley Woods facilities are at least 35 years old, and like the special older adults who live in them, are in need of financial support.
The Foundation of Wesley Woods is the connection point between the generosity of supporters in the community and the practical, life-changing work for which Wesley Woods is respected and renowned. The Foundation of Wesley Woods provides millions of dollars a year in charitable care, funding for vital research programming in the field of geriatric medicine, and capital support for its aging retirement communities.
I encourage you to join the Foundation in supporting Wesley Woods’ retirement communities, healthcare services, and ground-breaking research. Together, we will make it possible for people to experience a full and satisfying life.
