Charitable Care
She never married, she never had children, and when she came here as a 70-something she never expected to live so long. In her late nineties, she saw her resources dwindle to that final, inevitable point of no more. It was then that the gifts of enlightened donors took over, ensuring that this endearing lady's stay at Wesley Woods lasted well beyond her funds...
Enlightenment allows us to touch countless lives.
So many of the people in our communities worked hard all their lives, saved their money, and lived frugally. But the harsh reality is, they have exhausted their personal resources. Nothing is left to absorb their rising healthcare costs.
They have come to us through their churches, through hospitals and government agencies, through neighbors and friends. Some have outlived their families. Others have never had children. None are able to live at home.
And for those residents who have nowhere else to turn, the Foundation steps in to pay housing and utility costs, to provide nutritious meals.
Almost 40 percent of our rental residents live below the federal poverty level. More than 75 percent of our rental residents need assistance from the Foundation or HUD rent subsidies.
Only through the gifts of caring donors are we able to ensure that our most vulnerable seniors can age in place knowing safety and security.
