Branan Towers Breaks Ground on New Wellness Center
Branan Towers serves a relatively young group of residents with an average age of 74, who are still physically active and socially connected to each other. The Branan Towers Wellness Program has enabled Branan Towers to increase its activities and fitness programming and to provide high-quality preventive healthcare for residents. While this program has been a tremendous success, a lack of space has limited it ability to provide as much exercise and recreational programming as the community truly needs. The residents themselves expressed frustration with this problem when, as a part of the Branan Towers 2006 strategic planning initiative, a focus group survey indicated that residents believed that Branan Towers needed more space for recreation and exercise than the original floor plan of the building allowed.
The renovation of kitchen space that had fallen into disuse because residents now prepare food in their own apartments will provide the area needed for additional recreational and fitness programming. The new Branan Towers Wellness Center will include a recreation room, a large fitness room, a small warming kitchen, a storage room for supplies, and an external courtyard for outdoor gatherings. On behalf of the residents of Branan Towers, we would extend our thanks to the many individual and foundation donors who worked together to make this wonderful improvement possible.
