Charles E. Hoover

Director of Church Relations

A native of Augusta, GA, Charles Hoover graduated from the University of Georgia and then in preparation for the ministry of the United Methodist Church, he got his theology degree from Emory University. Later he earned a doctorate in theology from Emory. He has been honored by Paine College with the doctor of humane letters degree.

As a clergyperson in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, he served pastorates mostly in the Atlanta area and twice as a district superintendent. Upon retirement he came to Wesley Woods to serve as the part-time Director of Church Relations.

Because of its historical ties to the Methodist Church, Wesley Woods seeks to continue a strong relationship with the churches in the North Georgia Conference. We serve as a resource to the clergy and laity of the churches to provide information and support with regard to older adult issues which arise. We receive financial support from the churches through the Mother’s Day Offering and other gifts.

Charles is married to the former Winnie Strozier, a graduate of Agnes Scott College. They have three children and four grandchildren. Charles and Winnie live in the Emory area close to Wesley Woods.
